Easter Sunday marks a profound moment in the Christian faith—a celebration of resurrection, renewal, and hope. It invites us to reflect deeply on the journey of Lent, a season of fasting, prayer, and transformation. This time, God has emptied us of old burdens, filled us with His grace, and used us for His purpose. Now, as we rejoice in His resurrection, it is essential to ask: How has God worked in my life this Lent? This reflection opens the door to gratitude, prayer, and service, helping us live out the joy of resurrection in tangible ways.

The Journey of Lent: Emptied and Filled

Lent is a season designed to prepare our hearts for Easter. It calls us to empty ourselves of distractions, selfish desires, and sin. This emptying is not a loss but a clearing, making space for God’s presence to fill us anew. Many experience this as a spiritual cleansing—letting go of habits or attitudes that separate us from God and others.

For example, someone might have used Lent to forgive a long-held grudge or to break free from a harmful habit. Others may have deepened their prayer life, discovering new ways to listen to God’s voice. This process of emptying and filling is a powerful transformation that shapes how we live beyond Lent.

Recognizing God’s Work in Our Lives

Reflecting on how God has worked during Lent requires honest self-examination. Consider these questions:

  • What challenges did I face, and how did God help me overcome them?

  • In what ways did I grow closer to God through prayer or scripture?

  • How did I serve others, and what did I learn from those experiences?

  • What new insights or peace have I gained?

Did daily prayer during Lent help you to find calm amid anxiety? Or maybe you found that fasting from social media opened time for meaningful conversations with family. These examples show how God’s work is often practical and personal, touching everyday life.

Celebrating Through Gratitude

Gratitude is a natural response to recognizing God’s presence and action in our lives. Taking time to thank God for His faithfulness strengthens our relationship with Him and encourages a joyful spirit. Gratitude also shifts our focus from what we lack to the abundance God provides.

Prayer as a Celebration and Connection

Prayer remains a vital way to celebrate resurrection joy. It is both a conversation with God and a way to align our hearts with His will. On Easter Sunday, prayers of thanksgiving and praise resonate deeply, acknowledging the victory of life over death.

Serving Others in the Spirit of Resurrection

The resurrection calls us to live out our faith through acts of love and service. When God has worked in our lives, sharing that blessing with others becomes a natural response. Service can take many forms:

  • Volunteering at a local shelter or food bank.

  • Offering time to listen and support someone in need.

  • Sharing your story of transformation to encourage others.

These actions reflect the heart of Easter: life given for others. They allow us to embody resurrection joy in practical ways that impact our communities.

Carrying Resurrection Joy Beyond Easter

The joy of Easter is not limited to one day. It invites us to carry the hope and renewal of resurrection throughout the year. This means continuing to reflect on God’s work in our lives, maintaining gratitude, deepening prayer, and serving others regularly.

By doing so, we live as witnesses to the power of God’s love and transformation. Our lives become a testimony of resurrection joy that can inspire those around us.

May this season fill your heart with peace and inspire you to live fully in the light of resurrection joy.
